Striking textures and shapes, captured using custom plaster moulds.
Hand-built ceramic vessels exploring the relationship between land, ocean and the human body.
Fragments from the studio, observations, experiments and things I'm noticing.

Experimenting with water colour, expressing an image of Rimu Rapa flowing in the ocean current.
A variety of textures and shapes used to test new glazes and their movement.
Inspired by Carpophyllum maschcalocarpum, a seaweed species I collected on a recent research trip to Waihau Bay.
I am Madi Sexton, a ceramic artist based in Aotearoa New Zealand.
My work draws from my connection with the ocean and the environments around me, translating organic structures, textures and movement into ceramic forms.
Working primarily with stoneware, I embrace the unpredictability of the material and allow natural processes to influence each piece.
